Electrical Centre of Excellence in DSM, Tanzania (DSM)
The project is strategically designed to address the shortage of skilled personnel in the electrical installation sector by strengthening the availability of competent and industry-ready technicians. Through the implementation of a Dual Apprenticeship Training (DAT) approach, the project equips young people with practical, market-relevant competencies that respond to the evolving needs and technical demands of the electrical installation industry. By fostering close collaboration between training institutions and industry partners, the project aims to ensure that trainees acquire both theoretical knowledge and hands-on workplace experience, thereby enhancing their employability and supporting the development of a highly skilled workforce. In the long term, the initiative contributes to Tanzania's broader socio-economic development by improving the quality and reliability of electrical installation services, supporting industrial growth, and strengthening the country's competitiveness across key economic sectors.

As of October 2026, the project has achieved several key milestones toward establishing a high-quality Dual Apprenticeship Training (DAT) programme in electrical installation. These include the successful renovation and equipping of the training workshop, completion of Phase I of the Training of Trainers (ToT) programme to strengthen instructors' technical and pedagogical competencies, and the development of a competency-based curriculum tailored to the requirements of the electrical installation industry. The curriculum has since been rolled out at Don Bosco Oysterbay Vocational Training Centre (DB Oysterbay VTC), where the first cohort of students is currently undergoing training.
