Improving quality and holistic TVET programs in the Hospitality Sector to Enhance Progressive Career Pathways for the marginalized youth in Tanzania Project

Project Summary:

The project strategically targets to resolve problems of the deficiencies in skilled manpower in the hospitality sector. Through the implementation of certified training programs (CTPs), the project aspires to empower the youth with specialized skill sets tailored to the intricate demands of the hospitality sector. By furnishing them with industry-recognized certifications, the project aims to furnish individuals with the requisite expertise to navigate the multifaceted realms of the hospitality industry with confidence and proficiency. By fostering the growth and proficiency of the workforce, the project envisages a cascading effect on the tourism sector, catalyzing its expansion and enhancing its overall competitiveness on both regional and global scales. Ultimately, the project’s overarching ambition is to reinforce Tanzania’s position as a premier tourist destination, characterized by supreme service excellence and visitor satisfaction.

Objective 01:  Construct a fully-fledged tourism and hospitality department (workshop, classrooms, training kitchen, restaurant and bar, teachers’ office, storage space, reception) with all the needed equipment and fixtures in a bid to provide quality technical and vocational training

Objective 02: – Train and certify 240 young people annually in a holistic way in order to ensure their skills and capabilities to work in the tourism and hospitality industry

Objective 03:  Providing all students at Don Bosco Oysterbay VTC and guests with fresh and healthy meals, quality hospitality service, and adequate infrastructure thus improving the learning environment

Current Status:

As of July 2024, the project has successfully completed all construction works, providing a solid foundation for institutional operations. The project has also commenced training its first cohort of students, who are specifically enrolled to benefit from and contribute to the new infrastructure and digital learning platform. This inaugural group of students is being trained with the latest resources and methodologies made possible by the project’s developments, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s growth and operational capabilities.
